UNISDR Private Sector Meeting

Safehotels Alliance  CEO Hans Kanold attend the UNISDR Private sector meeting in London November 5-6. The discussions focus on Risk Reduction issues during disasters caused by nature such as hurricanes, earthquakes etc. One relevant topic is to start to explore the role of hotels and how they can contribute when there is a disaster in the world.

”It is extremly interesting to first of all listen to the demand and expectations from the international expertise involved in UNISDR. Its of course an honour to be involved, but we are involved for two reasons; we want to see how we can contribute being the ears and eyes in beween the hotel and meeting industry, and the government sector.  Its interesting to contribute to ideas and thoughts, hopefully being developed into processes to reduce damage at disasters. We want to become involved in, and hopefully be one of the communication vehicles between the hotel and meeting trade and the governments and private side. We are though extremely humble since there are many experts involved and a wide variety of solutions and ideas on a global basis. All has to be considered of course ” Says Hans Kanold.
